Sports injuries
Whether you are a “weekend warrior” athlete or a professional, injuries happen. There are two basic types of sports injuries: the first is the result of a trauma inflicted by a collision, a slip or a fall. The second type is caused by the over-use of a muscle group or joint whereby the repetitive movement of the same area causes an inflammation or injury such as carpal tunnel, stress fractures, muscle strains and tendonitis. Believe it or not simple household chores can mimic a sports injury.
Dr. Yael did her early training in Sports Chiropractic. As a prior gymnast with numerous injuries that were ultimately (after a long road of different doctors and different medications) treated by a chiropractor she was able to continue in her sport, she then chose to treat sports injuries so that she could help athletes and weekend warriors heal correctly. The way in which you treat your injuries determines how fast you will recover and get back to the activity you enjoy. Dr Yael and her staff use numerous modalities (adjustments, cold laser, decompression, trigger point therapy, rehabilitation therapy, therapeutic massage therapy) to target problem areas and strengthen previously injured or weakened muscles and joints. You will learn better strategies for exercise and stretching so that you can continue the straight and narrow path to better enjoyment of your chosen sport (We know household chores are not always included in this but are a necessity).
Work Injuries
If you are injured at work you are not alone. Millions of people sustain work related injuries each year. The suffering can be long term, which is why early treatment of work injuries should be sought.
Chiropractic care has become the leading form of medical care for work-related injuries involving the muscular/skeletal system. Some 13 separate studies in various states have repeatedly found that chiropractic care gets people back to work much sooner and at far lower cost than medical care for the same type of on-the-job back and repetitive stress injuries (RSI – carpal tunnel, Dequervain’s syndrome, thoracic outlet, tennis elbow, trigger finger). For the patient, that means less time in pain and more time to enjoy life.
Washington State Workman’s Compensation allows injured workers to directly access both chiropractors and medical doctors following an injury at work. Our staff will work with you to properly open your claim, and get the care you need, with no out-of-pocket expense to you.
Dr. Yael has been treating work-related injuries in Burien for over 23 years. With her effective treatment and success with treating soft-tissue injuries, she has been a resource for patients suffering from work injuries and repetitive stress injuries.
